I just downloaded the Zend Framework 0.9.1 and I'm using the view helpers to create a form. Now... they work great except I'm having the same problem I believe I had with the cakePHP framework's form helpers... how do you set a checkbox's id attribute?? Nothing I do seems to work. All I need to do is have the label for the checkbox work...

I am currently working on a ton of Web Services related things for the Zend Framework, one of my favorite, is the almost complete, Zend_Rest_Client. This is a replacement for Zend_Rest (as we're adding a server also).

When building a web site or application there comes a moment when you will most likely need to implement access restrictions. Two parts come in to play, first there is authentication (ususally implemented as username/password combination) and then authorization (or permission) to make sure a user is allowed to do what he is trying to do.
LiveUser provides you with a framework to make it easy to implement both aspects. It has a container approach giving a lot of flexibility in writing your own schemes if the bundled ones do not meet your needs. All containers use a unified API that makes switching between containers as painless as possible.
We will see one way to integrate the Zend Framework Controller with LiveUser.

I was going to add AuthSub authentication for Ngeblog when people at Google Code team announced that Zend framework now has GData support.
After played around with it for hours, i finally got into a decision to use Zend Gdata for abstracting Ngeblog connection to Blogger. Unfortunately, Zend GData class library only supports AuthSub authentication, while Ngeblog already uses ClientLogin authentication and works fine so far.
So, to make it available for both type of authentication, i finally sat down and wrote some codes myself to add ClientLogin support for Zend GData. You can download the bundle in .zip here or in .tgz here which contains both original Zend_Gdata bundle and my Zend_Gdata_ClientLogin class for ClientLogin authentication.

PHP is one of the most widely used languages on the Web today. Yet despite that fact there is no "P" in AJAX (define), Zend co-founder Andi Gutmans believes that PHP could be the glue that makes AJAX work better.

One of the incubator projects in the Zend Framework is Zend_Db_Xml. Zend_Db_Xml, also known as the XML Content Store (XCS), allows web applications that use XML data to easily update, save, and otherwise manage this data. In this article I will introduce the XCS persistence API and discuss an implementation using IBMÂ’s DB2 9 database with its pureXML technology. Finally, IÂ’ll discuss a sample social networking application to show how easy and fun it is to develop XML-centric applications using the XCS.

Here is a follow-up to the first part of the little tutorial Integrating Smarty with the Zend Framework. I want to address some of the issues in the comments of the first part and add some further information on how to setup your application to use the Travello_View_Smarty class. Along the way you learn how to integrate classes of the eZ Components.
